How it grows
About this goose
- Traits
- A short, wide, angular body ยท an audit box as big as itself ยท a folding ruler ยท black wrapping cloth ยท red seal stickers.
- Habit
- While waiting it folds stray tail feathers into the box. It tries to fit even its own body to packing standards.
- Catchphrase
- "If it doesn't fit, fold it."
- Weakness
- Faced with things as mismatched as its own name, the box will not close. When different circumstances arrive all at once, the hand that measures with the ruler stops.
- Proud of
- Folding any document into a single report. It hears things moving inside a box and finds the gaps. In a storm it can still line up all four corners of the wrapping cloth โ its guard stance.
- Likes
- Right angles, seals of the same size, and desks whose corners meet exactly.
- Secret
- It hid one small feather that fits no standard inside its own audit box. It never recorded whose it was.
- Gets on with
- Crumploose โ the one who smooths out the crumpled and the one who folds things into boxes bicker often, but understand each other's work best.
- Awkward with
- Matryooshka โ a structure that opens to reveal another one makes Packinggoose's box impossible to ever close.
- Weather & seasons
- When it rains it wraps the cloth in two layers. In the rainy season it prefers stone slabs to paper. In winter it makes one more small warming compartment inside the box.
Packinggoose is a different species from Munchgoose. Where Munchgoose is a big eater with a round maze-and-mouth motif, Packinggoose is a records clerk with an angular audit box and a measuring ruler. Its problem is not that feelings exist โ it is that feelings cannot be put into compartments of the same size.
